Welcome to The Oaks Academy

Welcome to The Oaks website. I hope as you navigate your way through the site that you are able to clearly see all aspects of our vision at work. Our vision statement is  ‘Inspire, Believe and Achieve’ and this relates to all aspects of our work with staff, students and parents, our aim is:

  • To INSPIRE all students to be valued members of the school and wider community
  • To make students BELIEVE in their ability to ACHIEVE the best outcomes
  • To build resilience in all of our students, so they ACHIVE through an ‘I Can’ attitude

On the 5th September we welcomed our biggest cohort of Year 7 for the last three years. This is always an exciting time for both students, staff and parents alike, giving us the opportunity to work together to ensure a smooth transition to Secondary School life. I am excited to see all of these students settle into Academy life and begin their journey to achieving their true potential. Whether this be through enjoying academic success or through the plethora of extra-curricular opportunities we have on offer for all of our students. Last week, parents of our Year 7 met with staff to discuss how their child had settled in. The feedback from this evening was fantastic, with one parent saying “Loves school, we know we made the right choice sending our child here. We think it is brilliant.”

After nearly three years of the school being open for ‘business’, I now feel it is time to ‘shout’ about our achievements and would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to come and have a tour during the school day, at a time of your convenience. Every Day is an Open Day and I look forward to welcoming you all through our doors soon! In the meantime click here to find out, from our students, how they have been settling in.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Kind regards

Some more wonderful feedback from our parents:

My child started year 7 this September. The inductions started from year 6 and really ensured my son was not nervous about his transition to high school.
The meet the tutor day a couple of weeks ago was brilliant.  Really helpful for both my son and I.
Teaching staff are contactable via the homework app for any questions the children have about homework.  Form tutors are contactable via email for any questions I have.  The head teacher is visible and approachable and quick to respond to any questions.
The golden tickets are well received by children and the pathway app to track behaviour points is a great tool.
Each morning and evening seeing staff outside school greeting children and parents alike is welcoming.
As a footnote my eldest child attended when it was Kingsgrove and changed to The Oaks.  He too was happy at the school and as a parent I feel the school has steadily improved.
