Welcome to the Year 7 Transition section of our website. I am delighted that you have chosen to join us at The Oaks Academy from September. This year we are having to undertake our transition programme in a different way. This site will give you the opportunity to ‘visit; the school, ‘meet’ key members of staff and as the weeks go on, we also want to make sure you get the opportunity to ‘meet’ members of your form group. We are working hard, alongside your Year 6 teachers, to ensure that you get the best possible start.
If you have any questions bout transition at The Oaks Academy please feel free to email transition@theoaksacademy.co.uk and someone will be happy to help you.
Starting High School could be making you feel a little nervous right now but we want to show you what an exciting new adventure this will be! The options below will help you to find out more about our academy. You could take a virtual tour, meet some of the staff and students plus find out more about academy life. Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome to The Oaks Academy
I am delighted that you have chosen the Oaks Academy for the next stage of your child’s education, and we welcome you warmly into our school, either as a new parent, or as a parent with children already at school. Please be assured that we will do our best to support all our students in achieving their potential, whilst recognising and nurturing their individual strengths and talents.
At The Oaks Academy, we believe that a smooth transition to secondary school can really help children settle in and continue to make good progress as they set their path for future success. Over the coming weeks and months, our staff will visit primary schools to see the children in their current settings and your child will also be invited to participate in new intake days here at The Oaks, so that they become familiar with their new surroundings. All staff who have been assigned to the transition process are very experienced and know the school well. We will be liaising with our local primary schools to collate information, but should you require any further information or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
You will be receiving an informative and detailed welcome pack for all students and parents, which will provide you with much more information about the school and our transition programme. As part of this pack you will be receiving an ‘all about me’ form and these can be returned by email at transition@theoaksacademy.co.uk. Alternatively, you may wish to hand these to our receptionist, Mrs Bridgewater, or place them in the drop box in the reception area.
In September, we will also continue the transition programme from the summer term, so that we can support your child settling in. Mrs Williams, Head of Year 7, will write to you in the coming weeks to provide you with more details about the transition and how we will keep you as parents involved and updated throughout.
We look forward to meeting your child and hope they are as excited as we are about their next stage in their schooling and the start of their journey with us at The Oaks Academy.
Yours faithfully
Peter Kingdom
Head teacher
