Key Information

Dear Parent / Carer,

The GCSE and vocational awards results this year will be published on Thursday 12th August. Please note that this is much earlier in August than in previous years.

Due to the continuing safety measures we need to have in place over the summer, it will not be possible to run our 2021 results day in the same way as previous years. To manage the number of people on site, each student will be allocated a time slot to come into the Brownson Building, at the Academy to collect their results. You will receive a text outlining how you can book into these time slots shortly. Each slot has a maximum of 20 students.

Time slots available are:

  • 9:30am – 10:00am
  • 10:00am – 10:30am
  • 10:30am – 11:00am
  • 11:00am – 11:30am

If you would prefer the results to be posted, please email exams@theoaksacademy.co.uk. These, and any results not collected by 12:30pm, will then be posted by the following day, by first class post.

This year has been particularly challenging for our students and staff in ensuring we gather the most accurate and reflective evidence of pupils attainment. To help students and parents understand how the results have been calculated this year, the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) have produced a guidance document outlining the procedure followed; this includes the appeals process. Please follow the link to access this:   https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/JCQ-Guidance-for-Students-and-Parents-on-Summer-2021.pdf

Upon collection of the results, we understand that there may be some questions around the grades received. Members of the Senior Leadership team will be available throughout the morning, where we can answer any questions you may have and assist with next steps, if necessary.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at chighfield@theoaksacademy.co.uk

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C. Highfield

Assistant Headteacher for Progress

Extended Learning and Revision Help

Additional Learning Support

Revision Hub

Pupils are encouraged to access the Revision Hub on Monday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s in room 22 and 23. They can use this facility before school from 8am and at the end of the school day until 4pm.

The Revision Hub is an area of school where pupils have access to computers, revision materials and a rotation of subject specific staff. A quiet, calm space in which they can focus and complete revision and specific tasks to achieve their maximum potential.

Pupils will be rewarded for attending with rewards that have value and meaning to them.

Saturday Morning School

At points throughout the academic year identified pupils will be invited to attend Saturday morning sessions.

These will be planned and delivered to target areas of need within subjects.

The first of these took place last Saturday, where pupils’ attended a Maths session focusing on Foundation and Higher Tier Algebra.

Leavers Week

Year 11 Leavers Week 7th – 11th June

Sadly our Year 11 students will soon be leaving The Oaks Academy to begin their next adventure!  Their last day in school will be Friday 28 May 2021.

Year 11 will return on Monday 7 June and spend their last week with us and the NCS (National Citizenship Service) who have kindly offered to fund the whole week of events for them in lieu of them not having a Prom and having been so resilient during lockdown.  The week has been timetabled into different sessions including climbing wall, bushcraft skills, first aid certificates, dragon’s den.

On Tuesday 8 June, Gainsborough Primary School, next door to us, will be bringing their full cohort of 60 year 5 students to spend the day with our Year 11s and will also participate in the same events alongside them for our Year 11s to develop their leadership skills.

The last day with us on Friday 11 June has been designated Year 11 Leavers’ Celebration and they will have a leaving ceremony in the afternoon outside on the field.

We are looking forward to great weather and a fantastic end to our Year 11s time with us.

This really is an amazing opportunity for our students.  A big thank you to NCS for their very generous offer to fund all the event.  We have managed to secure the most places within Cheshire East!  Go Oaks! Well done Mrs Lockett!

Crewe Lyceum

We are running some free open workshops online each month to support young people who are interested in careers in creative industry and maybe have missed out on work experience this year or just looking to dip their toe in and get a flavour of what’s out there. The workshops are free and open to anyone age 14-18 locally (though if you had some over 18 who you think would benefit, let me know and I’m sure we could accommodate).

They can sign up via the link:     https://crewelyceum.co.uk/Online/young-ambassadors-crewe

We are also recruiting for a new cohort of Young People to become our Young Ambassadors starting from September. This programme runs over the course of an academic year and is also free to join. It’s a great place to start for any young people interested in gaining more insight or experience in creative industry. Sign ups for that are also open on the webpage above.
