Jasbir Dhesi, has been Principal and Chief Executive of South Cheshire College since January 2014, having worked in Further Education since graduating from University. His experience has included a variety of senior management positions since 1996, including Assistant Principal, Vice Principal and between 2011-13 Principal of Yale College, Wrexham.
During his time at Yale College he oversaw the considerable strengthening of the College finances, culminating in sector leading results for 3 consecutive years as well as actively delivering on the Welsh Government’s Transformation Agenda. Under his leadership, the College was awarded the ColegauCymru Prize for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and was nominated for Times Educational Supplement (TES) FE Awards for Outstanding Innovation in Teaching, Training or Learning Provision and also Outstanding Finance Team.
As Principal at South Cheshire College, Dhesi has overseen a considerable strengthening of partnerships with local schools and employers. During this time the College’s financial health categorisation has improved to outstanding and in March 2016 Ofsted judged the College as good.
Dhesi is passionate about teaching and learning, in particular the use of digital learning technologies which is rapidly becoming part of the culture of South Cheshire College to engage the ‘digitally savvy’ generation of learners of today. He is keen to further develop collaborative links with local schools and employers, both locally as well as internationally.
He is a member of the Association of Colleges (AoC) 14-19 Portfolio Group, the Pearson FE Advisory Board, Glyndŵr University Court, Cheshire East Education Partnership Strategy Board, Cheshire East Schools Forum, Cheshire East 0-25 SEND Partnership Board meeting and Cheshire and Warrington LEP Provider Board.
