Linear Examinations—3 exams of equal weighting
Paper 1: 1 hour 30 mins – Non-calculator – 80 marks
Paper 2: 1 hour 30 mins – Calculator – 80 marks
Paper 3: 1 hour 30 mins – Calculator – 80 marks
HOW WILL MY WORK BE ASSESSED?
It is intended that students will undertake the Edexcel Linear GCSE (1MA1), with externally marked examinations as the form of assessment. This course has two tiers of assessment. The Foundation tier assesses grades 1- 5 and the Higher tier assesses grades 4 – 9. Students will be entered for the most appropriate level for their ability.
HOW WILL THE COURSE HELP ME WITH MY FUTURE CAREER?
Success in Mathematics is required for many Advanced course and careers; for example – architecture, engineering, design, business, accountancy. Vocational courses also value highly a good mathematics qualification which can lead to employment as an electrician, carpenter or plumber, to name just a few.
